GUIDA di CAMPAGNA Like most of the thinking and producing of Spring 1993 , my focus became a fusion of Japanese and Italian cultures. I was attracted to Italy's farm lands, LA CAMPAGNA, in particular that of Tuscany and Umbria. The Guide of the Fields is a ritualized turning of the earth; the plowed furrows roll as waves, crafted with braided foam, and anchored by vertical termination in the form of a bamboo trellis. The vineyards of Tuscany and the San Joaquin have hosted such a vision. The planting and the harvesting is a true spiritual process. Within the bamboo trellis our host and guide watches over the fields . The sphere is a metaphor for Genesis, and stewardship. Bless the tillers and the stewards of the land.
