TWO SAILS

Sails and Blades have a command energy as each contains the vernacular for cutting. In Two Sails, I worked the opposing curves toward each other instead of away held apart by parallel bamboo masts. Since a child I have been fascinated by the sail formation of boats associated with the Nile or Tigris/ Euphrates. The sail taper and the low elongation of its axis to the hull was sleek and alluring . . . filled with magic. This is my first sculpture employing bamboo. I set sail with this piece so to speak. The sculpture is plugged into the slab of acrylic at the specific center of the bronze and hangs suspended. It is a good piece.
